TOP 9 ART GALLERIES IN TAIPEI, TAIWAN

When you think about Art in Asia, hubs like Hong Kong, Dubai and Tokyo usually come to mind, perhaps Seoul might even be on your radar. Overshadowed by Art giants, Taipei, bursting with a multitude of art museums, galleries and spaces, is probably Asia’s best kept art secret. The city contains many more places and art styles than those mentioned in this list, but here are my favorite ones for when you’re looking for things to do in Taipei.

1-Jut Art Museum

The Jut Art Museum is organized into floors of different textures and materials, usually displaying prints, drawings, photographs and 3D models of architecture-related installations.

2-Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei

Most of their exhibitions feature very experimental and innovative pieces of work, and center around various Taiwanese artists. A lot of the displays are interactive and very fun to explore.

3-Taipei Fine Arts Museum

A peaceful atmosphere where the exhibits are clearly labeled and background information on the displayed art are all translated into English. I wouldn’t exactly qualify this museum as museum of Fine Arts as there are a lot of more contemporary and experimental works on display but it’s a very good place to check out regardless.

4-Tina Keng Gallery

Specialized in Chinese modern art, Tina Keng’s gallery is an excellent and very exclusive art space. Although small, the exhibition techniques incorporated in the various displays and rotating works serve to build a very high-end atmosphere.

5-Galerie Grand Siècle

Located in a quiet alley, Galerie Grand Siecle is probably one of the most high-profile galleries in Taipei. Its aim is to acquaint the observer with mainly Taiwanese new media arts within a commercial and experimental space, both in a local and international context.
