14 DELICIOUS AND INSTAGRAMABLE CAFÉS IN TAIPEI, TAIWAN

I feel that every major city in Asia is one of my favorite cities at this point so I won’t say it. But yeah.. Taipei is one of my favorite cities! There’s just so much to like, so much to see, and so much to do (check out the 12 UNIQUE EXPERIENCES IN TAIPEI blogpost), and the cafe culture Taiwanese have is also part of the whole experience. So here are some of the most instagrammable, insta-worthy cafes Taipei has to offer:

1.UNTITLED WORKSHOP

A cute little small place to get a cup of coffee, some good avocado toast, sushi-like sandwiches or a bowl of yummy curry. Untitled workshop has a couple of indoor seats, but the open space area outside is more comfortable.

Opening hours: Everyday from 11:00am to 7pm.

2.Quelques Patisserie

This is probably the best French pastry shop in Taipei. The desserts have some really interesting combination of flavors such as their renown whisky cheesecake, and they all look like edible pieces of art. I recommend trying out their Canelé which just tasted divine, but one thing to have in mind is that you need to order a drink if you want to sit there, so if you’re just coming for the ‘delicious’ part: takeaway is a good option.

5.VVG Hideaway

Located far up Yangming Mountain, this bright cafe composed of a sun room with a glass roof surrounded by an outdoor seating area is the perfect getaway far from the city noise and high energy. It is full of green plants and the food is tasty, but do keep in mind that there’s a minimum 400NT$ fee per person (12.77US$).

6.Flügel studio

The set menu is only composed of beverages and their dessert menu changes daily based on the seasonal ingredients available and the creativity of their pastry chef. Consequently, their cakes are very fresh and they tend to run out of them by the end of the day. The only downside is that the cafe is almost always full but you can book a reservation in advance if you want to.

8.Mrrdrinks

Let’s be honest and direct: these are pricey drinks compared to Taipei’s usual price point (around 200NT$ (6.38 US$)). But they’re adorable, tasty, and who doesn’t want, an sweet marshmallow Shiba Inu dog to lovingly stare at them from their cup? Because I sure do.

9.Drunk Cafe 爛醉咖啡

The main highlight of this place is their decor and space: they have a big indoor domed area that even has its own little sand playground and an outdoor area completed with bean bags, a wooden cabin, and a projector they sometimes use to screen movies with. As for the food, it’s so-so, and I’d stick to Drinks&Starters if I were you.

10.dazzling cafe pink

This cafe’s ambience centers around a retro-pink aesthetic and cute and chic decor. The food is generally good and their desserts are quite pretty and tasty: give the waffles and Mochi a try. It tends to get full during lunch time, so either reserve or come earlier/later.

ACME gets very crowded on the weekend as they are very famous for their brunch, and the area they’re located in is a popular spot. Their Food is mouth-watering and very tasty, whether you have a grilled cheese sandwich, eggs Benedict on tuna cakes or some avocado toast, you’re bound to leave this place with a happy and satisfied stomach.

12.INFINITY .Yes Lounge

More of a lounge-bar rather than a cafe (as the name obviously suggests), they have a fine selection of wines and appetizing pastries. The rustic interior is adorned with artworks in every corner and the first floor actually constitutes of an art gallery. Altogether the space feels edgy, commodious, and you’ll want to spend a good amount of time there listening to the ambient music and sipping on a drink.

14.Aruchuu 麓鳩 | Taipei Cafe

Aruchuu is what I imagined IKEA would have in mind when designing a cafe: it’s white, cool, minimalistic, and the lighting is great. Even the music they play is very chill and you immediately feel comfortable when you enter the area. A little twist: every dessert they offer has a little bit of alcohol in them, cheers.
