[REVIEW] Vegreen Fragrance-Free Cica Serum (Before and After)

+INGREDIENTS

Ingredients of the Fragrance-Free Cica Serum: Centella Asiatica Leaf Water (70.7%), Butylene Glycol (Moisturizer + Solvent), 1,2-Hexanediol (Solvent), Pentylene Glycol (Solvent + Moisturizer/Humectant), Water, Dipropylene Glycol (Solvent + Perfuming + Viscosity Controlling), Glycerin, Caprylyl Glycol (Moisturizer/Humectant + Emollient + Deodorant), Carbomer (Viscosity Controlling + Emulsion Stabilising), Tromethamine (Buffering), Disodium EDTA (Chelating), Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Allantoin, Panthenol, Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Controlling + Emulsifying + Surfactant/Cleansing + Emulsion Stabilising), Malachite Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Madecassoside, Asiaticoside, Madecassic Acid, Asiatic Acid

🍀In-Depth Details Of Interesting Ingredients:

Centella Asiatica Leaf Water (70.7%): Water-downed version of Centella Asiatica Extract: Wound healing (promotes collagen production) + hypertrophic scar healing properties in particular.

Glycerine: Widely used as a quality Hydrator (occurs naturally in skin, and its chemical structure attracts water). You can find this ingredient in most good skin-replenishing products.

Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate: Prevents hyper-pigmentation (Inhibits Melanin forming activity of Tyrosinase) + Helps preserve hyaluronic acid content in the skin

Centella Asiatica Extract: Wound healing (promotes collagen production) + hypertrophic scar healing properties in particular

Hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid: Hyaluronic Acid is a relatively big molecule that tends not to penetrate the skin very deeply. After its rise in popularity, different formulators have created smaller or different versions of this molecule. Hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid means that this molecule has been ruptured into smaller parts. Depending on the final size of the molecule, it can have different properties. L'Oréal does not specify the size, but the properties all center around hydration/moisture, some even exhibiting anti-inflammatory and skin-repairing properties.

Allantoin: Moisturizing ( Emollient: provides a layer of protection to help prevent water loss)

Panthenol: Moisturizing (penetrates deep into the layers and gets converted into Pantothenic Acid (B5)) + Possibly Anti Acne (B5) + Wound healing ("Promotes skin cell proliferation") + Anti-inflammatory ("Help reduce the appearance of UV-induced redness and may alleviate the itchiness associated with dermatitis.") + Skin barrier protection (B5 is involved in the creation of lipids, which themselves play a significant role in preventing moisture loss from the top layer of the skin)

Malachite Extract: 🔴[Not enough research] Judging by the color of this product and the lack of pigment in it, I'm guessing this is Malachite green, a green pigment. According to what I could find (which isn't much), this should be a safe pigment when used topically on intact skin. More research is needed to claim any benefits, but popular media likes to associate 'antioxidative' and 'detoxifying' claims to it.

Sodium Hyaluronate: Hydrating (water-binding properties) + Wound healing (promotes microcirculation)

Madecassoside: Derivative of Centella Asiatica Extract: Wound healing + hypertrophic scar healing properties + promotes collagen production (Acts as an Antioxidant). - "Madecassoside can also help in burn wound healing through increasing antioxidant activity and enhancing collagen synthesis."

AsiaticosideDerivative of Centella asiatica. Wound healing (promotes cell migration to healing sites and enhances skin cell adhesion)

Madecassic Acid+ Asiatic Acid: Both of these compounds are major constituents of Centella Asiatica Extract. Several studies point to them promoting Collagen I synthesis (anti-aging) and being anti-inflammatory.

+what does the Vegreen Fragrance-Free Cica Serum do?

Claims are taken from the product page of Vegreen.

1.Soothes the skin, even sensitive skin: If you look at the ingredient list, you’ll immediately notice that most of them are soothing, hydrating, and wound-healing. There are also no controversial ingredients that I know of. While I don’t have sensitive skin, the skin on my lips tends to get irritated very quickly if I put on products prone to irritate sensitive skin. Testing the Vegreen Fragrance-Free Cica Serum on them didn’t make them react in any way, which would imply that if you have sensitive skin, this product has a low chance of irritating you. When it comes to soothing in particular, this serum could help out the healing process of sunburns or help in calming down any other kind of irritation/reaction.

2.Moisturizes: This serum has a couple of moisturizing ingredients, but I wouldn’t go as far as to state that it’s a moisturizer. It won’t replace any real moisturizer, especially if you have dry skin. What it does the most is hydrate, and I think it’s a pretty good hydrating product as it manages to plump up the majority of my fine lines (that are due to a lack of hydration, not aging in my case).

[REVIEW] Vegreen Fragrance-Free Cica Serum Before and After

As I mentioned above, my skin isn’t particularly sensitive nor irritated, so while I did test out the Vegreen Fragrance-Free Cica Serum for a total of 30 days, I didn’t see much difference in my skin except in hydration levels.

I think it’s a great overall hydrating serum that will maintain healthy, dewy skin and plump up a good amount of fine lines. It’s a good add-on to any routine that would need a soothing and anti-inflammatory hydrating product.

Recommendations based on skin type and concerns:

  • 🩹Skin with hyperpigmentation or scars: If you have active wounds/scars, this serum will make the wound-healing process faster, but it won’t affect the actual pigmentation of your scars.

  • Skin with texture issues (bumpy skin): Won’t help in any way if the bumps need to be exfoliated. However, if your skin is bumpy because of irritation, it might help in lowering that reaction.

  • 🧠Mature skin types: I think this isn’t potent enough for you.

  • 🏜️Dry skin types: I don’t think this is potent enough for you; alternatively, you could layer it on, but there are other products that are more suited for your skin type, like the Dear, Klairs Fundamental Water Gel Cream.

  • ⛰️Acne skin types: Won’t do anything for your acne, but it has low chances of triggering any active breakouts, so if you’re looking for a hydrating soothing serum, this would be a good option. • 👉👈Sensitive skin types: The Vegreen Fragrance-Free Cica Serum was basically formulated for you as it has low chances of irritating sensitive skin. If you have really sensitive skin: make sure to still do a patch test.

  • 😬Normal skin types: This serum leaves you with a nice dewy look and will maintain the health of your skin.

  • ☯️Combination skin types: I personally have combination skin, and I loved this serum's texture and absorbing capacity, so I think you will too.

  • 🛢️Oily skin types: My nose/forehead area is very oily, and I was completely fine while using this product as it didn’t feel overwhelming or too occlusive to my liking. If you have dry-oily skin, this is a great option.

  1. Not a good moisturizer

🍀🍀🍀Score: 3.5/5 ——— Good hydrating and soothing product that will plump up some fine lines. Nothing particularly incredible to rave about, but great if you’re looking for a serum that has low chances of irritating your skin or interacting with other products you’re using.
