🐸In-Depth Details Of Interesting Ingredients:
Artemisia Capillaris Extract [61%]: 🔴[Not enough research] Potentially Antioxidantive + Potentially Anti-inflammatory
Glycerine: Widely used as a quality Hydrator (occurs naturally in skin, and its chemical structure attracts water). You can find this ingredient in most good skin-replenishing products.
Centella Asiatica Extract: Wound healing (promotes collagen production) + hypertrophic scar healing properties in particular
Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract: Antibacterial + Antifungal + Anti-inflammatory
Sodium Hyaluronate: Hydrating (water-binding properties) + Wound healing (promotes microcirculation)
Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract (Japanese Knotweed): Prevents hyper-pigmentation (Inhibits Melanin forming activity of Tyrosinase) + Antimicrobial ( inhibits bacterial and fungi proliferation) + Antioxidant (Resveratrol BT) + Anti-inflammatory (Resveratrol BT)
Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract: Antioxidant (Flavonoids baicalein, Oroxylin A, and Wogonin) + Anti-inflammatory (Inhibits substances and growth factor related to macrophage proliferation) + Antimicrobial (flavonoids and phenolic acids) + Prevents hyper-pigmentation (Inhibits Melanin forming activity of Tyrosinase)
Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract: Antifungal (hydroxycoumarin) + Anti-inflammatory (Monoterpenes)
Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (Green tea): Antioxidant (Polyphenol) + Anti-inflammatory (Polyphenol) + Antimicrobial (Catechins)
Glycyrrhiza Uralensis (Licorice) root extract: Antioxidant (isoflavones and isoflavone) + Anti-inflammatory (Glycyrrhizin activity is similar to cortisol and steroids) + Prevents hyper-pigmentation (Inhibits Melanin forming activity of Tyrosinase)
Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract: Anti-inflammatory (Terpenes/Flavonoids/α-bisabolol inhibit inflammatory pathway) + Wound Healing
Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract: Anti-inflammatory (Rosmarinic acid, carnosic acid, and carnosol, exhibit anti-inflammatory activities in particular acne-causing pathogens response) + Antioxidant (Rosmarinic acid and caffeic acid)
Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract: Anti-aging
Brassica Oleracea Capitata (Cabbage) Leaf Extract: Anti-inflammatory (reduces Immune response of Th1 cells (white blood cells)) + wound healing (increase in collagen production)
Hibiscus Esculentus Fruit Extract: (The study focuses on seed extracts, which are contained in the fruit) Antioxidant + Prevents hyperpigmentation (Inhibits Melanin forming activity of Tyrosinase)
Spinacia Oleracea (Spinach) Leaf Extract: 🔴[Not enough research]
Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract: Photoprotective
Artemisia Princeps Leaf Water: The water extract of Artemisia is not well researched on its own. Usually, water extracts of plants have some of the properties of the extracts themselves but are more diluted and less potent/present. Here are those of Artemisia Princeps Extract: Antioxidant (Activates a pathway that leads to the expression of antioxidant enzymes) + Anti-inflammatory (Upregulates the expression of Filaggrin and Loricin, two proteins involved in maintaining a healthy skin barrier. A lack of them is associated to skin inflammation and even eczema and psoriasis.)
Allantoin: Moisturizing (Emollient: provides a layer of protection to help prevent water loss)
Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate: Prevents hyperpigmentation (Inhibits Melanin forming activity of Tyrosinase) + Help preserve hyaluronic acid content in the skin)
♦️Controversial Ingredients:
Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil: Perfuming (Not as sensitizing as other essential oils) + Antimicrobial/Antibacterial
Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil: 🔴[Not enough research] Potentially Antioxidative + Potentially Sensitizing
Juniperus Mexicana Oil: Perfuming
Caramel (Colorant): Some colorants can cause irritation to the skin (notably blue, yellow, and red dyes), but this colorant is made ‘‘by controlled heat treatment of food-grade carbohydrates’’ [considered safe for use in cosmetics]
+HOW TO USE THE AXIS-Y 61% Mugwort Green Vital Energy Complex Sheet Mask
+WHAT DOES THE AXIS-Y 61% Mugwort Green Vital Energy Complex Sheet Mask DO?
Claims from the AXIS-Y product page.
1.The texture delivers a rich moisture feeling without the heaviness: The mask's texture is very nice to the touch. It's thin enough to embrace your skin in all its crevices - no matter how your face is shaped - and adhesive enough not to slide down your face. The serum is also very refreshing and delivers rich moisture. For the heaviness, it will depend on your preferences. I personally find that a lot of the product stays on my face after the 20 minutes have passed, but they are patted into my skin quickly and easily enough.
2.Helps the skin control sebum production: I haven’t experienced this, I have combination skin with a very oily T-zone, and it’s still as oily as before. One product that has reduced my sebum production is The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (7$ for 30ml).
3.Reverses skin damage: 'Skin damage' encompasses a wide variety of elements from burns to acne to wounds and diseases and a plethora of other things I won't mention here. This is too big of an umbrella for any single product to 'reverse.' Aging is technically skin damage; will the AXIS-Y 61% Mugwort Green Vital Energy Complex Sheet Mask reverse that? No. This claim is overly exaggerated in its phrasing, but I will attest to it being somehow true when it comes to a few issues, mainly inflammation and irritation. I've been using one sheet every four days for a couple of weeks now, and I'm currently hopping from country to country (from Lebanon to France to Belgium), and I even got my period at some point. Usually, the mere fact of taking a plane makes me break out, and the mere fact of completing a period cycle is always accompanied by a pimple reminding me that my biological clock is ticking. I'm surprised to report that I had no acne appearing anywhere on my face ever since I started using this mask, which attests to its anti-inflammatory properties. I did get a small zit because I rub the right side of my forehead with my fingers whenever I think (and I've apparently been doing a lot of that lately), and after using the sheet mask on it, it greatly diminished in color and size the next day. This is pretty self-explanatory as the majority of the ingredients here are anti-inflammatory ones. So for skin damage, if it's acne or irritation: yes. Also, since it's moisturizing, it will help wound-healing in general and any burns you might have after a bad tan.
One thing to note is that I don't feel like this is a very hydrating mask. I'm used to sheet masks plumping up my fine lines and was surprised that this one did not. Another thing to note is that the green color is not artificial; it's the natural color of the many green extracts present in the formulation. In this before & after picture, I'm showing you the side of my face with the least prominent fine line, which usually gets easily plumped up. As you can see, it's still the same after using the AXIS-Y 61% Mugwort Green Vital Energy Complex Sheet Mask.
I don't usually like sheet masks because I feel they add an extra environmental cost that I am able not to partake in. The packaging this one comes in is biodegradable, but the mask itself isn't, so don't go overboard in using it. I personally see it as only something to prevent my skin from flaring-up and to use occasionally instead of an everyday-hydrating-sheet-mask due to its properties as well as its environmental cost. I've enjoyed having only one product with me while traveling, especially since I don't need to worry about airport liquid limits.
I can just slap it on my face and take care of all of my skincare concerns (acne, anti-aging (note that inflammation ages skin quickly, and I'm always looking for anti-inflammatory products) and moisture) and not have to worry about maintaining a skincare routine for several days. It would have been a perfect mask if it were more hydrating/plumping and if it were biodegradable.
Would I recommend this sheet mask? Depends on your skin type. Although there are some perfuming compounds, anti-inflammatory ones are present in higher quantities, reducing the chances of irritation. Sensitive skin types should be okay with it and would certainly benefit from its calming properties. Acneic skin types are sure to benefit from this one the most: whenever I have acne breakouts, I find myself walking a fine line between moisturizing my skin enough for me to maintain a good skin-care routine but not enough to the point where I find my acne thriving and multiplying, so an anti-inflammatory sheet mask that I can use every four days seems like the perfect solution. For normal skin types, I don’t particularly recommend this one for you because I’ve tried ones in the past that give you more of a glassy-skin look and plump up your skin more. For dry skin types, I don’t think this is hydrating or moisturizing enough for your needs. Combination and oily skin types would appreciate its texture. More mature skin types would benefit from its anti-inflammatory properties, but there are probably more potent sheet masks for you out there.
+benefits:
Very cooling sensation
Soothes irritated and inflamed skin and acne
Doesn’t slide off the skin
Very convenient
Biodegradable
Essence gets absorbed easily and quickly when patted into the skin (no sticky-feeling afterward)
-CONS:
Not hydrating/plumping enough
A bit pricey for a sheet mask
The sheet mask itself is an extra environmental cost
🐸🐸🐸Score: --- 3.0/5 I like this sheet mask, and it would be of great use whenever I have acne breakouts. It’s also very convenient when traveling. I just don’t see myself reaching for it in an everyday-life setting. It’s more of a special-arsenal type of product. It would have gotten a higher score if it were more plumping/hydrating and less expensive.
