+what does the LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask do?

LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Masks

[Claims from Laneige]

I had first seen the Laneige lip sleeping mask surface here and there on beauty guru Youtuber’s channels, and I had taught (numerous times): Wow, 20$ for a lip mask? Are they completely insane? Even I, with my chronically dry lips, could not fathom spending such a sum on a product that would ultimately end up on my lips and only on my lips. Fast forward to a couple of months later, I found myself in Aritaum in Myeongdong, Seoul, in 2016, staring at the Laneige lip sleeping mask. They were having a 2 for 1 sale, and I’m a sucker for good deals. So I gulped down my thoughts and bought it. I have since then emptied six containers.

1.Lip Sleeping Mask has a softening balm texture that closely adheres to lips for quick absorption: I’m very particular about the texture of my lip products. I live in a country where the summer is extremely hot, and the winter is extremely cold. My wax-based products (so basically 99% of my lip products) tend to either get really oily/watery/or melt in summer and very hard and non-spreadable in winter, which is an annoyance. Thankfully, I’ve found some products that work well in both seasons, and this one is the prime example. Its texture stays more or less the same no matter what the temperature (I’ve taken it to the mountains where it snows, and it stayed consistent), and I love it. So my point is, yes, it is soft, and yes, it does adhere closely to the lips. Don’t get me wrong, it is a bit sticky, but it’s sticky in a really fun and small way that’s not annoying at all.

2.Enriched with vitamin C and antioxidants, its Berry Mix Complex™ offers a nutritiously sweet and fragrant blend of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, and blueberry extracts to indulge the senses: If you take a look at the ingredient lists above, you’ll notice that’s I’ve grouped quite a few together, that’s essentially this ‘‘Berry Mix Complex™’’ with the two last-mentioned ingredients added to the group because they do the same thing as the later ones. Basically, they deliver properties that you would want any skincare product to have (refer to the above list and links), and they’re very potent. As for the scent, I’ve tried 3 of the available LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask (original, grapefruit, and apple lime), and the grapefruit one is by far my favorite as it makes me look forward to slabbing this on every night.

3.Exclusive Moisture Wrap™ technology boasts hyaluronic acid and minerals to form a protective film over the lips to lock in moisture and active ingredients: This mask is literally a waterproof seal that locks in everything. It will not randomly get wiped. It will not evaporate into the atmosphere as most lip products do. It’s there to stay unless you physically wipe it off with a towel or your tongue. And when you do wipe it off, you’re left with extremely moisturized lips.

4.A generous layer of this soothing mask at bedtime helps reduce flakiness so you can wake up to lips that feel refreshed, supple, and soft to the touch: Let me say this for the 100th time: I had flaky, dry, dead lips for the longest possible time. My lips were so flaky one summer that the skin around them kept peeling off, and I was left with a lighter skin ‘‘contour’’ that heavily contrasted with my skin that tans easily. When I used to ski (before I realized that I don’t get along with the snow), I would come back from the mountains with swollen red lips because of the cold. The LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask healed all of this. I’m not saying I have the juiciest, most luscious lips in the world because sometimes I don’t use it, or sometimes I finish it, and I don’t have a backup, but whenever I use it, my lips get completely healed overnight, and they look pretty fresh in the morning. The only thing I would argue against is ‘‘soft to the touch’’ this isn’t a physical or chemical Exfoliator, and if you have extra skin or it’s shedding lips season, this won’t help with that. But if your lips and the skin that surround them are crusty, flaky, swollen, or red due to a lack of hydration and moisture or something that has irritated them, this product is a goldmine.

This is a lip sleeping mask, but it can be used during the day. I’m pretty sure that the creators also incorporated certain ingredients for its daily use since it has UV-blocking ingredients. When I use it during the night, I literally spread it all over my lips + surrounding skin area, and during the day, I use it as a gloss. I usually tint my lips or put on a light lipstick and then put this on, don’t do the reverse because the tint/lip product won’t penetrate the moisture barrier created by the Laneige lip sleeping mask.

The only hiccup I have to say about this product is that due to many years of lip issues, there’s a layer of weirdly colored skin under my lower lip (that doesn’t really show because my lower lip protrudes out), and this mask has helped in improving it but has not healed it.

If you don’t have any problems with your lips, do not buy this. Even if you find it priced down to 10$: there are 1$ lip balms that can take care of your lips. However, if you have any of the issues I’ve mentioned above, and you tried less pricey products, and they only partially worked or not at all, and/or if you have more mature aging skin and your lips are an area of concern because yes, lips with wrinkles that lose their plumpness is a thing: Then, by all means, buy this.
