[REVIEW] VEGREEN Alcohol-Free Nature Mucin Toner (Before and After)

+INGREDIENTS

Ingredients of the Vegreen Alcohol-Free Nature Mucin Toner: Dioscorea Villosa (Wild Yam) Root Extract (68%), Water, Butylene Glycol (Moisturizer/Humectant + Solvent + Viscosity Controlling), Glycerin, Panthenol, 1,2-Hexanediol (Solvent), Carbomer (Viscosity Controlling + Emulsion Stabilising), Arginine, Pentylene Glycol (Solvent + Moisturizer/Humectant), Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Ethylhexylglycerin (Preservative + Deodorant)

🍠In-Depth Details Of Interesting Ingredients:

Dioscorea Opposita (Wild Yam) Root Extract (68%): Prevents hyper-pigmentation (Diosgenin inhibits melanogenesis) + Anti-inflammatory + Anti-aging (Inhibits collagen-destroying enzymes)

Glycerine: Widely used as a quality Hydrator (occurs naturally in the skin, and its chemical structure attracts water). You can find this ingredient in most good skin-replenishing products.

Panthenol: Moisturizing (penetrates deep into the layers and gets converted into Pantothenic Acid (B5)) + Possibly Anti Acne (B5) + Wound healing (‘‘Promotes skin cell proliferation’’) + Anti-inflammatory (‘‘Help reduce the appearance of UV-induced redness and may alleviate the itchiness associated with dermatitis.’’) + Skin barrier protection (B5 is involved in the creation of lipids, which themselves play a significant role in preventing moisture loss from the top layer of the skin)

ArginineAntioxidant + Hydrating (acts as a humectant (chemical structure attracts and entraps water molecules)) + Anti-aging (increases collagen production through different pathways)

Sodium Hyaluronate (simplified text) + Sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer Hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid + Hyaluronic acid + Hydrolyzed Sodium HyaluronateBasically, all these do the same thing, but each are molecules of different sizes, click on the hyperlinks to get more details of the individual molecules, and here’s a simple scheme to illustrate what I’m saying. These are all Hydrating (water-binding properties) + Wound healing (promotes microcirculation)

Centella Asiatica Leaf Water: Water-downed version of Centella Asiatica Extract: Wound healing (promotes collagen production) + hypertrophic scar healing properties in particular.

+WHAT DOES THE Vegreen Alcohol-Free Nature Mucin Toner DO?

Claims taken from the Vegreen product page.

1.It contains 68% mucin from wild yam extract that restores tired skin and improves skin vitality: The Vegreen Alcohol-Free Nature Mucin Toner is very hydrating and moisturizing, and it also gives you glass skin for the vast majority of the day after its application. So yes, it does end up making skin look vitalized and less tired. Whenever I had a bad night’s sleep it made me look less crimpled by plumping up some of my fine lines, and it gave me a healthy glow. After looking at the before and after pictures (below), I noticed that it also seems to have calmed down some of the redness on my skin - I got the same results with the Vegreen 730 Nature Mucin Serum, which has similar ingredients.

2.The root of wild yams is rich in phytomucin similar to snail secretion filtrate, also called vegetable snail mucus extract, it has excellent effects on skin elasticity and moisturizing properties: The ingredients in this formulation are anti-aging in a way that conserves collagen; they are also hydrating, and anti-inflammatory which are two things that affect the aging process by slowing it down. But I wouldn't go as far as to say that my skin's elasticity has been improved. For this to happen, ingredients that specifically target elastin production should be incorporated, so something like the Primera Wild Seed Firming Water would be a better option. However, when it came to moisturizing properties, this is probably one of the most moisturizing and hydrating toners I've ever used. Prior to me trying out this product, my favorite toner was the Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner (without the essential oils) because it is very refreshing, super hydrating, and has great ingredients. While the Vegreen Alcohol-Free Nature Mucin Toner doesn't have as many interesting ingredients as that one, it is still more hydrating and moisturizing. The best way I can describe it is upon application, you feel like your skin is wrapped in a sort of hydrating bubble. The feeling is quite similar to the Laneige Cream Skin Refiner's, although there is no creamy texture left behind. The only downside is that you do end up feeling the product on your skin if you touch it, so this is probably not something you can layer on. I think dry skin types will probably fall in love with this product.

I extracted the blackheads myself. They didn’t disappear because of the toner.

I extracted the blackheads myself. They didn’t disappear because of the toner.

I’ve mentioned in my review of the Vegreen 730 Nature Mucin Serum that while Dioscorea Opposita (Wild Yam) Root Extract has some data behind it which suggests it possesses very similar properties to Snail Secretion Filtrate [Antioxidant + Wound healing (promotes extracellular matrix assembly and inhibit metalloproteinases production (their overproduction is directly linked to chronic wounds and the formation of scars)], I barely noticed a difference in overall skin pigmentation. The same can be said about this toner. Although there’s technically more of Wild Yam root extract in this product, I saw no difference in my scars. If you have scarring or hyperpigmentation issues, check out the Some By Mi Galactomyces Pure Vitamin C Glow Serum (13.8$) instead.

As for recommendations, dry skin types will benefit the most from this formulation. Sensitive skin types are also sure to enjoy it as it's very skin-barrier reconstructive, and it doesn't have a lot of ingredients - which limits its potential to irritate. I have acne-prone skin, and this hasn't triggered it. I was also trying it out at some point when I had active acne, and it didn't make it any wore or better, so if you're looking for a hydrating product to counterbalance any dryness, this would be a good choice (but also Check this post out: [10] Anti-Acne products that actually work + A Skincare routine).

People with combination skin might end up not liking the Vegreen Alcohol-Free Nature Mucin Toner depending on how oily their skin is and their product texture preference. I have combination skin with an oily T-zone, and I did not mind the continuous feeling of hydration on my face as it felt fresh, but depending on your oil levels, you might find this overbearing. People with oily skin don’t need a product that is this hydrating, and you probably won’t enjoy its feeling on your face.
