20 TRENDY AND CHARMING CAFÉS IN JAKARTA, INDONESIA

Cafés seem to be appearing out of thin air in every corner of Jakarta city. Although most serve some really mouth-watering concoctions of beans, not all serve it in an equally as beautiful atmosphere. A good cup of coffee and meal can only be made better if one is to enjoy them in a charming environment, so here are 20 of the trendiest most charming cafés in Jakarta, Indonesia.

1.Kopi Kalyan

Exposed concrete accentuates the decor in the indoor area and is used as a table in the garden. An overall interesting set up with an attractive industrial concept and great ambience, the coffee is quite nice and they even serve some Indonesian dishes.

Opening hours: Sunday till Thursday: 7am-10pm, Friday and Saturday: 7am-1am

2.kopi nalar

Part of the coffee shop is contained in a greenhouse, which adds to its charm. Although the place is small, its simple, cozy interior divided into an indoor, outdoor and the glass-house area makes it seem more spacious: You'll feel comfortable even when it's more crowded. Their food is more tasty than their drinks so think about grabbing a bite if you're planning to visit.

Opening hours: Sunday till Thurdsday: 8am-11pm, Friday and Saturday: 8am-12pm

3.Brew and Else

Brew and Else serves good coffee with a satisfactory bean selection, and a diverse but not overwhelming food menu. High ceilings, marble tabletops, leather chairs and round tables are all adorned with rays of sunshine during the light hours, which adds to the relaxed atmosphere of this café. I’d recommend the Affogato.

Opening hours: Everyday: 8am-9pm

4.Hario Cafe

A beautiful, chic and bright cafe with a little outdoor garden area in the back. It’s great for a quick hangout, and I only say 'quick' because the AC/fans don’t seem to work properly, and the unbearable Jakarta heat can sometimes get to you during the high temperature months. The coffee is fine, but if you come here, it should mainly be for the food: try the fried bananas, which are particularly crispy and yummy.

Opening hours: Monday till Friday: 9am-9pm, Saturday and Sunday: 9am-10pm

5.OnThree

This coffee shop is located at the rooftop of a fancy building in Jakarta, it’s sectioned into an indoor modern area, and expends outdoor into a big terrace that feels like a bohemian gallery. Comfortable, well-lit and delicious, try to come here on a weekday near sunset time to add an eerie feel to your visit.

Opening hours: Everyday: 7am-10pm

6.Dotto Coffee & Kitchen Cilandak

A nice little place with an aqua green interior, this is where to go if you’re looking for a small, closed green space secluded from the city crowd. Their menu is more focused on drinks rather than food, but they do serve some pretty nice brownies. Visitors: the entrance to the café is a bit confusing as you need to enter an office space to reach it, ask around or look for the security guard to guide you.

Opening hours: Monday till Saturday: 10am-7pm, Sunday: Closed

7.Copper Club Specialty Coffee

Every corner of Copper Club looks like it was contrived with the goal of people taking pictures next to it. The design and layout of the cafe centers around minimalistic wooden furnitures, lushes green plants and metal utensils. The snacks they offer vary from day to day, but the coffee is here to stay: you can choose something classic or opt for a more non conventional choice like their Avocado Coffee.

Opening hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday: 8am-8:30pm, Friday and Saturday: 8am-10pm, Tuesday: Closed

8.Kokonut & Curtains By Wakimukudo

This is the type of place that you go to solely for the ambience: spacious, airy, comfortable and even a bit Bali-like. While their coconuts are quite tasty, their coffee and food isn’t really noteworthy, so I wouldn’t plan a long stay here if I were you.

Opening hours: Everyday: 8:30am-7:30pm

9.Arborea Café

Unfortunately, Jakarta and air pollution tend to go hand in hand, so it’s always refreshing to find a place surrounded by grass and tropical trees. This single wooden box in the middle of (a bit of) nature makes for the perfect townscape to sip on a cup of coffee or tea, while enjoying some green landscape.

Opening hours: Monday till Friday: 8am-8pm, Saturday and Sunday: 11:30am-8pm

10.Ottoman's Coffee Brewers

The pictures speak for themselves so I’m not gonna sit here and tell you how beautiful their decor is and how delicious their food tastes. But do note that there are 2 locations: the pink café that you see is the one located in Sopo Del, the one with the more funky undertones and pastel colored furniture is located in Cilandak. I won’t be putting a map link here, but if you press on the hyperlink of each location mentioned above, it will redirect you to a page with more pictures of each place (so you know which one is which) that also provides you a map and address.

Opening hours: Everday: 7am-7pm

11.Piknik Arif Inn

This is a nice tropical-looking place when it comes to visuals, you can even swim in their pool and they do provide towels but note that people rarely swim in it. The drinks are good, the food is a pass. An inconvenience that seems to happen is that people sometimes book this place for photoshoots/birthdays and they don’t mention it on their social media, so you might end up going there but not being able to actually go in. Try to give them a call if you’re intent on visiting.

Opening hours: Wednesday till Monday: 10am-8pm, Tuesday: Closed

12.Simplicity Coffee

One of the more unique cafés of Jakarta when it comes to decor, this one centers around a Mediterranean Santorini-like approach to interior design, with the occasional arch and rounded bench to seal in the illusion. The only downside is the white paint which tends to get dirty where shoes concentrate (namely under the tables). Otherwise, it’s a place with good coffee and picturesque elements.

Opening hours: Tuesday till Saturday: 8am-7pm, Sunday: 11am-9m, Monday: Closed.

13.kopi manyar

This café reminds me of the type of area where an art exhibition should take place: a rustic, industrial interior ornamented by a tree in an outdoor space that seems to blend into the indoor one. The coffee is as delicious as the space it is being served in, but if you want something more cold and fruity, try their Iced Lychee Tea.

Opening hours: Monday till Friday: 8am-9pm, Saturday and Sunday: 8am-10pm

14.Samakamu Kopi

Soft pastel colors and plants enrich the atmosphere of this cute café. This isn’t a place to come to if you want to study/work, their low-end tables and chairs are designed for hangouts only. A succession of undulating arches will take you up to the second floor, where they have a room with clouds and a white ball pit to satisfy the cravings of your inner child (and Instagram twitches). If you drink alcohol, try their signature Samakamu Kembailey, or alternatively one of their very colorful teas.

Opening hours: Everyday: 7am-8pm

15.Lucky Cat coffee & kitchen

The ceiling is glass so it feels bright everywhere. There’s a tree growing in the middle of the cafe and ferns adorn their high ceilings left and right, altogether, this is the perfect place to eat and drink with friends or even study/drink in the long hours of the night as this cafe opens up 24 hours, 7 days a week. Do note that the coffee is not exceptional, but their menu is good and this would make a great place for breakfast during the weekend.

Opening hours: 24 hours a day, every day.

16.yamalu

Step into Yamalu’s garden and be transported to your own little green abode tucked away between grassy and glass walls. A calm and collected ambience awaits you in their spacious garden or their sunlit indoor space where you are sure to loosen up and enjoy your time.

17.lima

Soft gray tones intermix with wood and green flora to fabricate an attractive environment that easily blends rustic and modern designs. Treat yourself to one of Lima’s home-baked chocolate based desserts and thank me later.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday: 9:30am-10pm, Saturday and Sunday: 9:30am-10:30pm

18.Titik Temu Coffee Jenggala

There are several Titik Temu locations in Jakarta so make sure you’re heading to the one in Jenggalla because the other ones are just as good but not quite as aesthetically pleasing. Tucked in a quiet corner, this café embodies leisure and sophistication with a blend of white and ivory touches in its decor. A welcomed addition to the ambience is a beautiful green lawn, where you can choose to relax, either under the sun or tucked away in the shade of the trees. Make sure to try the Beef Teriyaki Bowl if you’re hungry.

Opening hours: Everyday: 7:30am-10pm

19.The Forest by Wyl's

I’ve been to Bali and this is the closest experience of it, I’ve had in Jakarta. When I first saw the pictures I thought the geotag was mistaken and that this small piece of paradise could not possibly be located in the hustle and bustle of Jakarta, but alas, I was mistaken: this spectacular view, pool, and delicious food are indeed part of the city and are here to give you a special relaxing experience in one of the world’s busiest places.

Menu: couldn’t find a menu.

Opening hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 11am-11pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 11am-1am, Monday: Closed

20.Cecemuwe Café and Space

Cecemuwe is the type of café I’d go to everyday, if I lived in Jakarta: it has 3 levels that offer anything you’d want out of a cafe. Level 1 gives you the small social comfortable gathering in an aesthetically pleasing space, level 2 offers a library where sometimes workshops take place and where you’re guaranteed to find a calm and relaxing environment for studies or work, and level 3 is for the sunshine lovers that want to enjoy their cup of coffee on a rooftop garden.

Opening hours: Everyday: 8am-9pm

+May your coffee beans be forever flavorful.
