💧In-Depth Details Of Interesting Ingredients:

Glycerine: Widely used as a quality Hydrator (occurs naturally in skin and its chemical structure attracts water). You can find this ingredient in most good skin-replenishing products.

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water: Green tea leaf extract is known to be a powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial compound, but there is a difference between the extract and water derivatives of plants. Green tea water is not well researched when it comes to its topical application on the skin, one Camellia Sinensis-Derived Ingredients report made in 2014 debates whether the water extract of this plant is only a perfuming ingredient, but no final conclusion was reached. Another study made on mice shows that Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water decreases wrinkle formation in UV exposed skin (results show a decrease in MMP, an enzyme that gets overexpressed when the skin is exposed to UV rays and degrades the skin matrix, which contributes to premature aging). More studies and research are needed, but this is a promising ingredient.

Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract: Antioxidant + vitamin E and fatty acids anti-aging (vitamin E plus vitamin B and squalane) Antioxidants like beta-carotene and lycopene enzymes like CoQ10 provide active component

Bifida Ferment Extract: Strengthens the skin’s microbiome which leads to skin becoming less sensitive and repairing itself.

Aspergillus/Rice Ferment Extract: No significant properties tested on actual skin, but a few studies demonstrate possible Anti-aging (Downregulates Elastase, which is an enzyme that breaks down elastin) + Anti hyper-pigmentation (Downregulates Tyrosinase, which is an enzyme involved in melanin production) + Antioxidative properties.

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (Green tea): Antioxidant (Polyphenol) + Anti-inflammatory (Polyphenol) + Antimicrobial (Catechins)

Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate: Prevents hyper-pigmentation (Inhibits Melanin forming activity of Tyrosinase) + Help preserve hyaluronic acid content in skin

Sodium Hyaluronate : Hydrating (water-binding properties) + Wound healing (promotes microcirculation)

Arginine: Antioxidant + Hydrating (acts as a humectant (chemical structure attracts and entraps water molecules)) + Anti-aging (increases collagen production through different pathways)

Tocopheryl Acetate: The most commonly used form of Vitamin E (Most abundant antioxidant found in human skin, works as a photoprotective agent + Anti-inflammatory ). Popular culture suggests that it also helps in wound healing but this it not adequately backed up by research.

Laminaria Japonica Extract: Hydrating + Moisturizing

Ceramide NP : ‘‘This lipid prevents the epidermis, or the top layer of the skin, from losing moisture. When people experience dry skin, it is because of a loss of ceramides in the skin, which can also cause itching, flaking, peeling, and scaling.’’

Copper Tripeptide-1: Improves Elasticity/Skin Density/Firmness (Stimulates Elastin and Glycosaminoglycans production and increases Keratinocyte proliferation) + Reduces fine lines and improves skin clarity (Stimulates Collagen production and has anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties) + Reduces photodamage and hyper-pigmentation spots (By the renewal of the skin)

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 : Works as a muscle contraction blocker which ultimately reduces the appearance of fine line and wrinkles due to facial expression. However, it’s not an ingredient meant to be used on sensitive or sensitized (due to sun damage for example).

+how to use the Klairs Fundamental Watery Oil Drop

After cleansing and toning, apply 2-3 drops of the Watery Oil Drop on to the face and massage throughout the entire face down to the neck.

+what does the Klairs Fundamental Watery Oil Drop do?

1.Oil-Like Moisture Serum. A unique formula of moisture serum for skin that lacks hydration: It’s a bit confusing for this serum to be marketed as a watery oil drop, for the very straightforward reason that it does not contain a nanometer of oil. While the texture is slightly oily to the touch, it’s nowhere near as oily as actually oil-containing serums. Perhaps Klairs wanted to join on the marketing relevance of hydrating oils, which seemed to be very big last year, but I otherwise don’t understand the name given to this serum. That being said, texture and marketing put aside, this is a very hydrating and beneficial product. If you have extremely dry skin, this won’t be a stand-alone product for hydration and you will probably need to layer something like a cream on top of it, but otherwise, for any other skin type, this is a great serum to have. Also, I have very acne-prone skin and this didn’t even slightly change my skin texture, let alone trigger any breakouts, so that's great.

2.Daily concentrated Hydration. From the heat of summer sun to the dryness of winter winds, it prevents moisture loss without the feeling of stickiness all throughout the day: The feeling of stickiness can persist and be present if you put on too much of the product, but otherwise, yes, this isn’t a serum that will leave your face feeling sticky, but it will keep it hydrated and moisturized throughout the day, much like the Klairs Fundamental Ampule Mist.

3.Changes from real active ingredients. Formulated with a wide range of active ingredients such as Jeju Green Tea Water, Rice Extract, Fermented Extracts Peptides, etc., it provides strong moisturizing effects and antioxidant care: The ingredients list is amazing, and there is a relevant number of studies and research to back up their claims. Just check out the in-depth list above to see how many hydrating, antioxidant and anti-aging ingredients are incorporated into the formulation. What is even greater is the fact that this doesn’t contain any fragrance, essential oils, or alcohols. I’m not specifically against all of these ingredients as I do believe that when they are incorporated in specific ways at specific concentrations, they aren’t so bad. But not adding them to products make the product suitable for more types of skin and the risk of irritation and reactions diminishes, so it's always a plus.

The serum immediately makes the skin look dewier and plumps up some of its fine lines. It can accentuate skin texture around your nose, but this will only last a few minutes as the product is being absorbed.

This isn’t a miraculous serum, it won’t magically cure your acne, get rid of fine lines, or even out your skin tone. But it will soothe out your skin and help with inflammation so that your acne-fighting products might get enhanced, and it will provide you with some pretty potent antioxidants and hydrating ingredients so that your fine lines might get a bit plumper and your skin more even, and while it will even out your skin and make it brighter, it won’t do so to a dramatic effect. What it will also do is provide you with a good amount of hydration and enhance any product you might be using. It will also plump out and soothe your skin, as well as protect and heal your skin barrier, to give you a nice and healthy glow. The line is marketed as ‘fundamental’ skincare, and that’s what it is supposed to provide (and it does!).

I’ve been using the Klairs Fundamental Watery Oil Drop for about a month, I can attest to my skin being more plump and just overall healthier and better looking. I can compare this product to a lot of other ones, mainly the Skinfood Royal Honey Propolis Enrich Essence. The difference between the Klairs one and the rest of these similar products is the ingredients list: it’s much more interesting and provides more potent and powerful benefits.

I wouldn’t run to the stores to purchase this product as there are many like it in the market, but among the ones present, it definitely is one of the best. This is something that I would tend to gravitate towards to and repurchase in the future. I’d recommend this to any type of skin routine where you are trying to incorporate a hydrating and antioxidant serum. It would work great along most potent anti-aging products, as it doesn’t contain any 'strong' ingredients like acids that you can’t mix with other ones.

The bottom line is, yes, this is a basic product, but it’s top of the line basic.

+benefits:

  1. Very hydrating

  2. Absorbed quickly and easily and doesn’t leave a sticky feeling

  3. Powerful and potent ingredients list that targets most skin concerns

  4. Suits all skin types

-CONS:

  1. The price/quality/quantity ratio leans towards the more expensive side.

🦋Score: 4.5/5 --- The Klairs Fundamental Watery Oil Drop does what it claims, the ingredient list is great, and I actually prefer it to my long time favorite hydrating serum (the Skinfood Royal Honey Propolis Enrich Essence), if I didn’t like to test out products as much as I do, this would probably become a regular in my skincare routine, the only issue is the price, which I think should have been a bit lower.
