[REVIEW] A'PIEU Orc Pack Tight Skin (before and after)

A'Pieu is a very interesting brand with a lot of quirky, different products which I will be reviewing in the future (stay tuned for non-spons quality content folks).

I have tried a lot of different face masks throughout the years, but they all tend to look or feel kind of the same, so when I came across the Orc Pack Tight Skin and saw what a different and weird consistency it was made out of, I was instantly interested.

🧟In-Depth Details Of Interesting Ingredients:

Acetylated Peptide (Acetyl Hexapeptide-8): Triggers skin renewal at a cellular level, making it softer and more elastic, also has a tightening, smoothing and strengthening effect which acts to prevent the appearance of wrinkles.

Egg Extract (Albumin extract) : Helps in the appearance of pores by either purifying them or by leaving a film over the skin which fills the pores and makes them look smaller (conflicting research).

Centella Asiatica Extract: anti-inflammatory and wound-healing effects, very good moisturizer that aids with dull complexion and rough skin.

+how to use the A'PIEU Orc Pack Tight Skin

1.Prep skin with toner (*I don't really feel like you need to do this)

2.Apply to dry skin, avoiding the eye and mouth areas

3.Rinse off with warm water after 15 minutes or once the mask becomes dry and tight

    The mask is a viscous transparent yellowish gel with a fruity odor that isn't unpleasant. I find the gel kind of difficult to spread over the skin as it quickly dries up and turns into a wet film. My main issue with the mask pack is that it dispenses an amount that could barely cover 2 full fingers (of an area) on your face each time you squeeze it, so the process of applying it is longer than it should be.

The key to making the product work to your advantage is to not move one facial muscle when you've applied the mask. Each attempt at a facial expression will make the mask crack a little and thus lower its efficiency on the 'firming action' it has on your skin. As it dries down, you will feel an increasing tightening sensation which will eventually contort your face into a strange grimace. It doesn't feel itchy, it doesn't burn and it's not painful but perhaps it is a bit unpleasant.  After the 15mins are up, as soon as you splash water on your face the mask turns back into a gel-like consistency and is very easy to remove.

1.Sticky gel texture promotes firmer skin: The way this is phrased suggests that consistent use of this product will promote an overall firmer skin. I don't feel like this is true. Yes, the product makes your skin firmer after its application but the firmness goes away after a couple of hours (up to 5/6 hours) which points to the firmness being due to the immediate pulling action on your skin rather than your skin being changed from the inside. The latter would actually promote an overall firmer skin but this is just not how the product works. Something that promotes firmer skin does so in the long run, by acting on the cellular level, although this mask does have ingredients that could act as such, they aren't enough of them and the formula isn't geared towards regeneration and anti-aging. The way the mask works is by pulling and stretching your skin, it makes it smoother and wrinkle-free-ish for a few hours, if it acted on the cellular level, it couldn't achieve that in just 15mins.

2.Shrinking formula tightens stretched pores: I don't know what 'shrinking formula' means, but yes your pores will be tighter for a few hours after using this product.

3.Works on dry, rough skin: I saw no benefits regarding moisture or smoothness levels on my skin.

4.Contains ingredients that firm, exfoliate, tighten, and moisturize: If you look at the ingredient list link I provided, you will notice that a lot of ingredients have moisturizing functions, some like Sodium Hyaluronate and Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract have had claims made about them firming and tightening up the skin, but I see nothing that would act as an exfoliator.

5.Magically tighten skin in 15 minutes with the A'PIEU Orc Pack: This is true.

You won't miraculously look like you have smooth baby ass skin, but you will look like you've had a full night of sleep. As you can see from the pictures I look more well rested on the bottom one. I was afraid that it would leave my skin dry since the tightening effect is so strong but this left it as smooth as it had been before applying it. I'm only 23 so I don't really have any wrinkles yet, except for nasolabial folds (smile lines) because of the way the fat in my cheeks weights down on this area: the mask really helped, my smile lines were barely noticeable after the application (as shown on circle), and it didn't irritate my acne in any way (most red spots on the picture are scars not acne).

This is a great product to use before a night out, a meeting or a date if you want to look fresh and awake for a few hours. I did end up using it after an overnight and it worked wonders, but I would not recommend using this every day as I feel that pulling and stretching your skin to the extent that this mask does is bound to do more harm than good in the long run. This is more of a quick fixer than an anti-aging product.

+EDIT: I tried using this once on a small portion of my forehead instead of spreading it all over my face (I didn’t sleep well and I usually get pronounced lines there when it happened) and the mask worked but not as well as it usually does, so another remark would be that applying this all over your face (or at least on a bigger area) gets you a better result, my guess is that it has to do with a uniform ‘pulling’ direction on a larger surface area. // 20 DEC 2018

🧟‍♂️🧟🧟Score: 3.5/5 --- I really like this product and have been using it whenever I feel like my skin needs an extra shot of youthful look, this doesn't do much except for giving you the appearance that you slept but that's already something huge for a night owl like me, or if you have prominent wrinkles in a certain area. It would have gotten 5.0 if regular use would make it so that my skin looks like this all the time.
