+INGREDIENTS
💠Ingredient: Hydrocolloid Sheet 9
+Hydrocolloid sheets are occlusive or semi-occlusive dressings, the material they consist of differs, but is usually a combination of gel-forming polymers. These polymers have water-attracting properties on the face of the sheet facing the wound, which results in them slowly absorbing fluid from it. As the fluid gets absorbed, the gel swells up and becomes white, and as more of it is sucked out, the enclosed environment increases in moisture. A moist environment has been proven in many studies and research to be optimal for wound healing as it speeds up, stimulates, and preserves all the complex procedures involved in this process (click here for more details).
Acne is essentially a cellular wound, and acne pus consists of a mixture of blood, bacteria, and sebum. This mixture gets sucked out by the hydrocolloid sheet’s properties, and the environment that the sheet creates around the acne speeds up and enhances the wound healing process. The sheet also provides a protective barrier from bacteria, which lowers the chances of the pimple becoming active again through infection.
Here’s the link to a study done on the efficacy of treating acne with hydrocolloid dressings, which has some very promising results.
+how to use the By Wishtrend Clear Skin Shield Patch
+what does the By Wishtrend Clear Skin Shield Patch do?
Taken from FAQ: [By Wishtrend] Clear Skin Shield Patch
This hydrocolloid acne patch protects the skin against dirty water, dust and physical contact. The thin, breathable fabric quickly absorbs impurities while naturally covering problem areas. Irritation-free spot care for breakouts and pimples. While it doesn’t dissolve or completely remove the pimple, it helps to absorb impurities from it and quicken the healing process/ reduce the size and severity of the inflammation.
1.Protects the skin against dirty water, dust, and physical contact.: The non-sticky side is waterproof, and the edges of the sheet tightly adhere to the skin which makes it really difficult for anything to get in. I’ve tried a good number of acne patch and have experienced them ‘rolling’ off my skin as I slept (due to me moving around), and have never experienced this with this Clear Skin Shield Patch By Wishtrend. It’s also the most adhering patch I’ve ever used, so this claim is definitely true.
2.Irritation-free spot care: I’ve never felt the urge to scratch any areas covered by this patch, hydrocolloid sheets are also very well researched (not in acne care, but wound healing in general) and used in the medical field, so the chances of irritation are pretty low.
3.Quickens the healing process: It does quicken the healing process, but only of at least moderately big and raised pimples if they contain pus and are cystic in nature, this is when it works best (the patch isn’t designed for pimples that don’t contain any fluid). If you have acne that isn’t particularly raised or big, I would recommend using the Pyunkang Yul Acne Spot Cream (which also dramatically speeds up the healing process) on them instead of wasting a patch.
4.Reduces the size and severity of the inflammation: Yes, the site becomes smaller and flattens down (if it was initially raised), but not to a dramatic extent, this isn’t a miracle product but it definitely does work.
On the picture above, my pimple was still in the early stages of forming, I’d normally wait 1 week for the pus to come out as it did in the after picture, pop it, and then apply the Pyunkang Yul Acne Spot Cream on it to prevent it from becoming inflamed again. Using the sticker sucked out the pus overnight (before and after pictures are about 8 hours apart) and almost completely flattened out the zit. As you can see, there is still some substance left, but using another sticker will get rid of that.
Using the By Wishtrend Clear Skin Shield Patch removes the stage of waiting for a pimple to become ‘poppable’ and also removes the popping process itself. If you’re impatient and still pop the zit, using the patch over it ensures that every bit of puss gets sucked out (as you probably know if you’re a zit popper, pimples that aren’t properly popped and sucked out tend to reform).
The only thing I dislike about this patch is that it adheres so tightly to the skin that if you have tanned skin, when you remove the patch, it can ‘remove’ some dead skin cells with it. I used it once during summer when I was really tanned and my skin had a noticeable circular discoloration that took a few hours to wear off. This is why I prefer the Acne Pimple Master Patch from Cosrx over this one.
I would recommend this to anyone who gets raised, inflamed, moderate/big pimples or active cystic acne. I’d recommend the one from Cosrx if you’re tanned, but if you’re not, or if you’ve already tried the cosrx one and haven’t liked it because it’s too thick, this one is actually way thinner and more subtle.
+benefits:
Very thin
Absorbs pus overnight
Reduces inflammation, size, and elevation of pimple
Good price to quality and quantity ratio
Adheres well to the skin
-CONS:
Annoying to remove as it might leave you with a slight discoloration if you’re tanned
🌀 Score: 4.0/5 --- I’ll keep on using this and would recommend it, but I prefer the Cosrx one, and will probably stop using the Wishtrend one during summer as I get tanned very easily.
