🥛In-Depth Details Of Interesting Ingredients:
Kaolin: Soaks up excess oils (sebum) and pulls impurities from the skin
Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (Green tea): Antioxidant (Polyphenol) + Anti-inflammatory (Polyphenol) + Antimicrobial (Catechins)
Glycerine: Widely used as a quality Hydrator (occurs naturally in skin and its chemical structure attracts water). You can find this ingredient in most good skin replenishing products.
Bentonite: Anti-irritant (reduces inflammation caused by contact dermatitis) + Soaks up excess oils (sebum) and pulls impurities from the skin (lot of study focus on the effects of bentonite clay in pulling out toxic skin compounds)
Collagen: “Your skin might feel softer and smoother [or] your wrinkles might look less prominent, but that's all an illusion—that's just what's happening on the surface, It's not actually building collagen.” - Suzan Obagi, M.D., UPMC dermatologist and American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery president (Because the molecules are too big to penetrate the deeper layers of your skin when they are applied topically.
Charcoal Powder: Sponge-like structure allows optimal absorption of oil and dirt when applied to skin, check out the link as the article does a great job to scientifically explain why.
Carbonated Water: No significant scientific research has been done, but most facialists seem to support the possibility that the carbonation helps to break up dirt and oil embedded in the pores, essentially pushing out impurities.
Allantoin: Moisturizing (Emollient: provides a layer of protection to help prevent water loss)
Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil : Mostly acts as perfuming agents, some recent study suggest possible skin calming benefits, but this is dependent on people as some are actually irritated by the oil (if present in abundant quantity)
Monarda Didyma Leaf Extract: Couple of studies suggest possible benefits when applied on Psoriasis and antioxidant capacity. (more studies are needed to fully assert these claims)
Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract: (Main active ingredient: Menthol) Antibacterial and Antifungal + Evidence shows it might contribute to the treatment of Dermatitis.
Freesia Refracta Extract: No significant scientific research has been done, but ‘soothing’ is a function usually associated with this particular extract.
Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract: Anti-inflammatory (Terpenes/Flavonoids/α-bisabolol inhibit inflammatory pathway) + Wound HealingRosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract: Anti-inflammatory (Rosmarinic acid, carnosic acid, and carnosol, exhibit anti-inflammatory activities in particular acne-causing pathogens response) + Antioxidant (Rosmarinic acid and caffeic acid)
Further Interest:
Sodium Laureth Sulfate: Not to be confused with Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (Cleansing agent but also irritator), is mostly responsible for producing big bubbles.
Methylparaben: A preservative that most people prefer to avoid as some studies suggest that it might cause harm to cells when exposed to sunlight. But the study wasn’t done on real skin. You might opt to avoid this ingredient or to use sunscreen when using products that do contain it.
+HOW TO USE THE Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask
+WHAT DOES THE Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask DO?
Warning: the pictures below portray my nose and pores in all their human glory: oil, pores and hair ensue, sensible souls begone.
+BENEFITS:
Fun to use
Good price for the amount of product you get
Works well to remove blackheads
Easy to wash off
Doesn’t leave skin tight and dry unlike a lot of clay mask
-CONS:
Doesn’t really do anything for acne (unlike most clay mask)
🐷 Score: 3.0/5 - - - Fun mask that works. Won’t really have any long term benefits, but it’s a quick fix to blackheads and oily skin, and won’t leave your skin feeling tight (unless you have really sensitive skin). It’s not an amazing mask but not a sucky one either, and the bubbles add a fun and original (but probably completely unnecessary) effect which gives it a plus in my book.
