🥛In-Depth Details Of Interesting Ingredients:

Kaolin: Soaks up excess oils (sebum) and pulls impurities from the skin

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (Green tea): Antioxidant (Polyphenol) + Anti-inflammatory (Polyphenol) + Antimicrobial (Catechins)

Glycerine: Widely used as a quality Hydrator (occurs naturally in skin and its chemical structure attracts water). You can find this ingredient in most good skin replenishing products.

Bentonite: Anti-irritant (reduces inflammation caused by contact dermatitis) + Soaks up excess oils (sebum) and pulls impurities from the skin (lot of study focus on the effects of bentonite clay in pulling out toxic skin compounds)

Collagen: “Your skin might feel softer and smoother [or] your wrinkles might look less prominent, but that's all an illusion—that's just what's happening on the surface, It's not actually building collagen.” - Suzan Obagi, M.D., UPMC dermatologist and American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery president (Because the molecules are too big to penetrate the deeper layers of your skin when they are applied topically.

Charcoal Powder: Sponge-like structure allows optimal absorption of oil and dirt when applied to skin, check out the link as the article does a great job to scientifically explain why.

Carbonated Water: No significant scientific research has been done, but most facialists seem to support the possibility that the carbonation helps to break up dirt and oil embedded in the pores, essentially pushing out impurities.

Allantoin: Moisturizing (Emollient: provides a layer of protection to help prevent water loss)

Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil : Mostly acts as perfuming agents, some recent study suggest possible skin calming benefits, but this is dependent on people as some are actually irritated by the oil (if present in abundant quantity)

Monarda Didyma Leaf Extract: Couple of studies suggest possible benefits when applied on Psoriasis and antioxidant capacity. (more studies are needed to fully assert these claims)

Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract: (Main active ingredient: Menthol) Antibacterial and Antifungal + Evidence shows it might contribute to the treatment of Dermatitis.

Freesia Refracta Extract: No significant scientific research has been done, but ‘soothing’ is a function usually associated with this particular extract.
Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract: Anti-inflammatory (Terpenes/Flavonoids/α-bisabolol inhibit inflammatory pathway) + Wound Healing

Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract: Anti-inflammatory (Rosmarinic acid, carnosic acid, and carnosol, exhibit anti-inflammatory activities in particular acne-causing pathogens response) + Antioxidant (Rosmarinic acid and caffeic acid)

Further Interest:

Sodium Laureth Sulfate: Not to be confused with Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (Cleansing agent but also irritator), is mostly responsible for producing big bubbles.

Methylparaben: A preservative that most people prefer to avoid as some studies suggest that it might cause harm to cells when exposed to sunlight. But the study wasn’t done on real skin. You might opt to avoid this ingredient or to use sunscreen when using products that do contain it.

+HOW TO USE THE Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask

4.Rinse off with water.

+WHAT DOES THE Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask DO?

1.Carbonate and mud in the pack cleanse pores: Very simple claims for a very fun and straight to the point mask. Your pores are left clean, but not in an effortless matter, particularly when it comes to your blackheads, the mask does pull the impurities to the surface, but you still need to rub your skin with either a soft towel or at least squeeze out the blackheads with your clean fingers, the mask will ease out the process and makes it much easier on you. As for cleaning on a more general term, as in reducing oil and debris, yes, it does this quite effectively.

2.Vegetable moisture ingredients keep the skin soft and moisturized: Most mud mask can be stripping to the skin: when they work, they tend to overwork and strip the skin of some of its needed moisture which leaves the face feeling tight and particularly dry after application. Does the Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask leave your skin feelings softened and more moisturized? No. I might add that it’s a bit less moisturized even, but not to an uncomfortable level, as for softness, it doesn’t really change except in concentrated areas of blackheads, if you proceed to squeeze or rub them out, your skin will then be softer. I would obviously still immediately proceed to add a moisturizing essence or serum after this clay mask and would not feel comfortable without doing so.

Warning: the pictures below portray my nose and pores in all their human glory: oil, pores and hair ensue, sensible souls begone.

This mask is actually a repurchase for me, I first bought it because I simply thought it was fun to use and was following the hype, I ended up using it up completely and really enjoyed it. I don’t think skincare should be a strictly professional and straight to the point endeavor, a bit of fun - as long as the fun ends up actually working and doing something positive- is always welcomed.

Is this the greatest clay mask ever? it works well for blackheads (specifically on the nose) and mattifies the skin without stripping it of too much of its oil but doesn’t really help when it comes to acne or to preventing the skin from becoming oily, so probably not. It’s fun, quirky, affordable, and delivers what it promises up to a margin. Would I recommend it? Only if you have blackheads and oily zones/skin, but even then I’d tell you that there are probably better masks out there for you depending on your skin concern, like the Glacial Clay Facial Mask from Skin&Lab (which is a better fit if you have very oily skin), but not funner ones. So really depends on what you’re looking for.

+BENEFITS:

  1. Fun to use

  2. Good price for the amount of product you get

  3. Works well to remove blackheads

  4. Easy to wash off

  5. Doesn’t leave skin tight and dry unlike a lot of clay mask

-CONS:

  1. Doesn’t really do anything for acne (unlike most clay mask)

🐷 Score: 3.0/5 - - - Fun mask that works. Won’t really have any long term benefits, but it’s a quick fix to blackheads and oily skin, and won’t leave your skin feeling tight (unless you have really sensitive skin). It’s not an amazing mask but not a sucky one either, and the bubbles add a fun and original (but probably completely unnecessary) effect which gives it a plus in my book.
