Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour: Anti-inflammation (diminishes inflammatory response pathway) + Antioxidant (reactive oxygen species are reduced) + Anti-irritant (improves skin dryness/texture/itch)
Kaolin: Soaks up excess oils (sebum) and pulls impurities from the skin
Bentonite: Anti-irritant (reduces inflammation caused by contact dermatitis) + Soaks up excess oils (sebum) and pulls impurities from the skin (lot of study focus on the effects of bentonite clay in pulling out toxic skin compounds)

+how to use the Skin&Lab Glacial Clay Facial Mask
+what does the Skin&Lab Glacial Clay Facial Mask do?
1.No.1 Canadian Glacial Clay's Deep Pore Cleansing: Effectively absorbs extra sebum deep inside the pores. Perfectly eliminates acne-causing skin waste and oil. Noticeable Pore Contraction Effect, Strengthen the pore walls and tightens the pores: Sebum and oil are very effectively absorbed, and whatever oily areas you have will get less oily and stay so as long as you use this product semi-regularly. As for acne, I’ve used this clay mask for about 2 months and my acne hasn’t changed in any way: I still got the occasional pimple whenever I was stressed/on my period, and whatever active pimples I had weren’t affected. For pore contraction: it’s not that the pores get tightened/strengthened - the ingredients just don’t have these attributes - it’s just that some of the gunk in them gets absorbed so they look smaller.
2.Anti-Inflammatory + Anti-Bacterial Treatment, Calms down the sudden breakouts. Kills acne-causing bacteria to constrain the acne development: Although some ingredients are antibacterial/anti-acne, I haven’t personally noticed any difference.
3.Firm up the sagged, weak skin & cool down the Sensitive Skin. Gives instant lifting and fresh, cooling effects with natural ingredients: I did not notice any ‘‘firming’’ effect whatsoever and none of the ingredients present particularly enhance collagen/elastin production to do so. As for any ‘instant’ effects, I did not notice any, since this mask is pretty hyped up I tried taking very accurate before and after pictures each time I applied it and I didn’t notice any difference except for my skin becoming less oily. I also haven’t experienced any cooling-down effects.
4.Balance the Hydration Level with Oatmeal. Leaves the moist feelings after - no drying out: I disagree, I’ve used good hydrating clay masks in the past like the L’Oréal Blue Clay Mask Clear and Comfort, and these types of masks never fully dry down. The glacial clay mask is drying, I feel my skin tighten up, and around the 10minutes mark, I start feeling tingly sensations - while this isn’t alarming in any way (unless you leave the mask on longer than the recommended time) - these aren’t attributes of a hydrating/not drying mask. Hydrating clay masks always feel a bit moist to the touch, while this one completely dries out around the 15minutes mark, hydrating masks leave your skin more hydrated than it was before, while this one leaves it a bit less hydrated. It’s not a stripping mask that will dry up your skin in any way, but it’s not a hydrating one either.
I was disappointed with the Skin&Lab Glacial Clay Facial Mask at first because I had high expectations, but reviewing my skin after one month of using it made me notice that my usually very oily T-zone area is now pretty balanced. This comes as an even bigger surprise as it’s currently summer where I live and this area usually gets more oily during this season. In the past, whenever I would squeeze my nose my fingers would end up getting a bit oily, but now it just feels like normal skin. This was never achieved with any products before this one, clay masks would balance my T-zone for a maximum of a day or two, but never to a point where it’s balanced even If I don’t apply the product religiously every 3 days.
+benefits:
Soft texture
Easily spreadable
Balances skin very well
If you’re only going to use it in oily areas, the product will last you quite a while.
-CONS:
Annoying to wash off
Tingly/unpleasant sensation when the mask is drying up
Doesn’t do much other than balance oils
❄️Score: 3.5/5 --- Great at balancing the skin out and sucking out sebum, but doesn’t do much else.
